The New York Liberty dominated in the Barclays Center against the Seattle Storm, improving to 4-0 after their 74-63 win on Monday night. In a game that told the story of where team chemistry is for each team, the Liberty looked gelled together. However, on the other side the Storm displayed their lack of team chemistry with their 17 turnovers. For New York, Sabrina Ionescu led the game in scoring with 20 points, while also chipping in a game-high 8 assists. Breanna Stewart secured a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Benijah Laney-Hamilton scored 13 points and 2 steals.

Game Notes

The Storm as a team finished with 17 turnovers, which is a season-low for them but exposes their lack of chemistry. Integrating new players plays a factor in that, and there is improvement on a game to game basis.

The Liberty scored 42 points in the paint, accumulating 56.7% of their scoring in the painted area.

Seattle all-star forward Ezi Magbegor's 12 points gives her 1,259 career points, which makes her the 12th player to score over 1,250 points in a Storm uniform. Magbegor is also the 5th youngest to accomplish this feat behind Lauren Jackson, Stewart, Jewell Loyd, and Sue Bird.

The Liberty start out the season 4-0, their first such start since 1997. They were held to their season low in points after scoring 85, 102, and 91 prior.

Seattle was once again without their star forward Nneka Ogwumike, who was out with a sprained ankle. Mercedes Russell started in her place and finished with eight points in 34 minutes.

Jonquel Jones scored 16 points for New York, asserting her dominance against the Storm's weak post defense. She also became the fastest player in history to reach 2,000 career rebounds and 250 three-pointers.

Storm guard Jewell Loyd finished with 13 points, while grabbing a team-high 9 rebounds.

Benijah Laney-Hamilton now has a plus-minus of +15 or above in the last four games, setting a WNBA record for most games to start a season.

New York looks to build off their fantastic start in their next game on Thursday at home against the Chicago Sky.

Seattle looks to bounce back after a 1-3 season start at home against the Indiana Fever on Wednesday.
