WVU announces 2023-24 women's basketball schedule

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Sept. 26, 2023) – West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the women’s basketball team, in conjunction with the Big 12 Conference, released the 2023-24 league schedule on Tuesday.

With the release of the full slate of contests this season, new season tickets are now on sale to the general public online at WVUGAME.com and at the Mountaineer Ticket Office in the WVU Coliseum.

WVU will face five Big 12 opponents twice and eight conference foes once. Opponents were selected based on a combination of geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness.

The Mountaineers begin this year’s conference slate on the road on Saturday, Dec. 30, when they trek to Kansas for a showdown in Lawrence at Phog Allen Arena.

West Virginia returns home for a two-game stand, holding their Big 12 home opener against newcomer Cincinnati at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at the WVU Coliseum. The home stint continues Saturday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m., when WVU hosts Texas in the season’s only matchup with the Longhorns.

WVU then embarks on a two-game road trip, beginning with a Wednesday, Jan. 10, contest against Iowa State at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa. West Virginia concludes the two game swing on Saturday, Jan. 13, against UCF at Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida.

The Mountaineers return to Morgantown on Wednesday, Jan. 17, for a matchup against Houston at 7 p.m., before hitting the road to take on Cincinnati at the Fifth Thirds Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday, Jan. 20.

Another two game home stint brings Iowa State to Morgantown, for a Saturday, Jan. 20, contest. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at the WVU Coliseum. Three days later WVU is set to play host to UCF at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

Following a Saturday, Feb. 3, game against BYU at the J. Willard Marriott Center in Provo, Utah, WVU welcomes Texas Tech to Morgantown on Tuesday, Feb. 6, for a 7 p.m. tipoff.

WVU then travels to the Lonestar State for two contests. WVU opens its stint in Texas against Baylor on Sunday, Feb. 10, for its first-ever contest inside the Bears' new Foster Pavilion. The Mountaineers continue their road trip on Tuesday, Feb. 13, against TCU inside Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth.

The Mountaineers then return to Morgantown for one contest. West Virginia plays host to Oklahoma on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m., before going back on the road for a matchup against Kansas State at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kansas.

WVU is back in the confines of the WVU Coliseum at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, against Baylor. Three days later on Tuesday, Feb 27, the Mountaineers find themselves in Oklahoma for the first time this season, taking on Oklahoma State, for battle in Stillwater. 

WVU is set to conclude its 2023-24 regular season on Saturday, March 2, as the team returns home, to compete with TCU at 1 p.m., inside the WVU Coliseum.

The Mountaineers open postseason play from March 7-12, for the 2024 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship inside T-Moble Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Remaining road game times and additional broadcast information will be announced at a later date.

All 2023-24 women's basketball season ticket holders will receive a reserved parking pass for all Big 12 weekend home games. West Virginia opens the season against Loyola Maryland on Tuesday, Nov. 7, when it plays host at the WVU Coliseum.
