D.J. Law was arrested by Lake Alfred police May 20 on three counts of violating his probation on charges from a 2018 arrest in Tennessee.

Law, 25, was out after curfew and alcohol was found in his vehicle. He is being held in the Polk County Jail without bond and his first court appearance is set for 8:30 a.m. on June 26.

In December 2018, Law was arrested and charged with two counts of domestic violence with aggravated assault, aggravated cruelty to animals, theft of a motor vehicle over $2,500, aggravated kidnapping and violation of an order of protection.

Law was one of the athletes featured in the first season of the Netflix series “Last Chance U” while he played for East Mississippi Community College. After rushing for 1,158 yards in two seasons at East Mississippi, he signed with Alabama-Birmingham and was named a starter before injuring his knee and was benched for the entire season. He then dropped out of UAB after not maintaining his academic eligibility.

Law starred in high school in football at Haines City. In his final varsity game, he rushed for 269 yards on just 12 carries in the Hornets’ 47-0 win over Lake Region. He finished his senior year second in the county in rushing with 1,275 yards.

Law was no stranger to controversy when he was in high school. On national signing day his senior year in 2014, he first signed with Ole Miss, which received his letter of intent at 8:23 a.m.

In a televised signing at 11 a.m. at Haines City High School, Law signed with Utah, which announced the signing at 4:36 p.m. On Tuesday night prior to the Wednesday signing day, he signed with East Mississippi but the papers were never faxed off.

Ole Miss later released Law to allow him to play at Utah, but Law didn’t qualify and ended up playing two years at East Mississippi.
