In the age of transfers, one way that college coaches work to solidify their rosters is by adding top freshman transfers. This off-season has been filled with talented players entering the transfer portal. Here are the top 14 freshman transfers.
1. Kierstan Bell
Name: Kierstan Bell @Dotmug_330 Highlight
Position: Scoring Guard
Bell comes in as the best available on the freshman transfer market. She combines good size, 6-foot-1, with the ability to take over games, superior athleticism, toughness, and the nature to take big shots.
In 2019-20, Bell averaged 10.9 points alongside 4.4 rebounds per game. Her played earned her a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman team and three Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors.
The 6-1 guard was the No. 8 player in the country according to ESPN and No. 14 overall by World Exposure Report.
2. Maori Davenport
Name: Maori Davenport
Position: Center
During the summer of 2018, Davenport gguided Team USA to the FIBA American U18 Championship in Mexico City, earning all-tournament honors and averaged 7.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per contest.
This past season, she only averaged 2.7 points per game and 2.3 rebounds per game in 287 total minutes of play. She had a career high of 13 points and 7 rebounds against Marshall.
The Alabama native was No. 5 overall by World Exposure Report, No. 15 overall by Dan Olson Collegiate Girls Basketball Report, and No. 17 overall recruit by Prospect Nation.
3. Lauren Hansen
Name: Lauren Hansen
Position: Shooting Guard
In just a few games into her collegiate career she posted a career-high 18 points against St. Joseph's. Then she followed that up with a 24 point performance against Drake.
The freshman averaged 7.9 points per game during the Auburn Tigers' 11-18 season.
The New York native was No. 137 overall by World Exposure Report and No. 71 overall by Dan Olson Collegiate Girls Basketball Report.
4. Holly Winterburn
Name: Holly Winterburn @hollywinterburn
Position: Guard
In International play she was named to the All-Star Five (all-tournament team) at the FIBA U20 Div. B European Championship after averaging 18.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists for Great Britian.
Winterburn, who is from Northampton, England, averaged 3.4 points, 1.5 rebounds and 11.4 minutes off the bench with 28 appearances.
She was No. 58 overall by World Exposure Report for international prospect.
5. Jayla Hemingway
Name: Jayla Hemingway
Position: Shooting Guard
Hemingway had a huge senior season at Houston High School in Tennessee. She averaged 22.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.2 steals and became the all-time leading scorer with 2,599 points.
As a freshman, Hemingway played the least amount of minutes of any of the active Bulldogs. She averaged 1.6 points a game and 1.0 rebounds in 7.1 minutes a game. She provided key minutes off the bench in a comeback win against Texas A&M but played double digit minutes in just six games during her 24 this season with a career high of seven points coming early in the year against Murray State.
6. Mya Bembry
Name: Mya Bembry
Position: Small Forward
Bembry is West Orange High School as the all-time leading scorer and rebounder with 1,718 career points and 1,068 career rebounds. In addition, she was named first team All-Conference and second team All-State as both a junior and senior.
During her freshman campaign she went 1 for 20 behind the arc and averaged 1.5 points per game.
The New Jersey native was No. 252 overall by World Exposure Report, No. 120 overall by Blue Star Basketball Report and No. 48 at her position by Dan Olson Collegiate Girls Basketball Report.
7. Shaila Beller
Name: Shaila Beeler @beeler4s
Position: Point Guard
Beeler, a 2019 Indiana All- Star from Warren Central did not appear in a game at Indiana, suffering a concussion prior to Hoosier Hysteria.
Shaila Beller was ranked No. 112 overall by Dan Olson Collegiate Report, and No. 76 overall by World Exposure Report.
8. Lucy Cochrane
Name: Lucy Cochrane @lucycochrane12
Position: Center
Cochrane played for the Australia national team in both the 2016 FIBA U17 Women's World Championship and the 2015 FIBA U16 Oceania Championship, averaging 2.2 points and 4.5 rebounds.
Last season, the 6-foot-5 center, appeared in 18 games during her freshman season. She averaged 1.4 points per game along with 1.2 rebounds. She made 10-of-16 field goal attempts.
9. Jayla Alexander

Position: Guard
Alexander was the No. 1 ranked player in Mississippi, No. 81 nationally by MaxPreps.
She played in 30 games for the Rebels last season as a true freshman and finished as the team's third-leading scorer, averaging 9.5 points per game. Her 39 three-pointers ranked second on the team. She made 19 starts for the Rebels, averaging 31.3 minutes per game.
10. Nia Daniel
Name: Nia Daniel
Position: Shooting Guard
As a freshman, came off the bench to play in 25 games ... Averaged 10.7 minutes per appearance, with 2.8 points and 1.0 rebounds per game ... Scored a season-high eight points against Yale on Dec. 28 and at Wake Forest on Feb. 23
11. Isis Lopes
Name: Isis Lopes
Position: Guard
Isis shows good athleticism and is a good passer with above average handles, but right now she is a streaky shooter. A year in Junior College would be beneficial for her game before going back to Division 1.
Last season, she appeared in 13 total games and scored 11 total points.
Lopes was ranked No. 31 overall by World Exposure Report for International Prospects.
12. Nailah Dillard
Name: Nailah Dillard @DillardNailah
Position: Shooting Guard
Dillard is a combo guard that excels at attacking the rim and has the ability to hit the 3 if left open.
The unranked 5-10 guard from Sacramento, California was a three-time all-league selection and was named second team All-State.
She finished her freshman season averaging 3.6 points per game and 34.6% from 3pt range.
13. Tamia Davis
Name: Tamia Davis @whiz_kiddd
Position: Point Guard
Davis was ranked No. 44 overall by ASGR, No. 198 overall by Dan Olson Collegiate Report, and No. 268 overall by World Exposure Report. The 5-7 guard helped Southeast Raleigh High School to Class 4A Championship.
This past year she played in 7 games for a total of 25 minutes. Davis will likely opt to go the junior college route to get more playing time before she goes back to Division 1.
14. Olivia Snyder
Name: Olivia Snyder
Position: Small Forward
Olivia Snyder was a four year started at Southern Lehigh High School in Center Valley, Pennsylvania, where she was the team captian, team mvp, and ranked top of her academic class. In high school, she scored a school-record 2,077 points.
Synder played AAU with Exodus EYBL and the Philaelphia Belles.
The question for Snyder at the Division 1 level is how well will she be able to handle the pressure of longer and more athletic small forward players she will be going up against.
