Four Finalists named for 2023 World Exposure Report NJCAA Div. 1 Freshman of the Year

The World Exposure Report  Awards Committee announced the finalists for the prestigious World Exposure NJCAA Division 1 Freshman of the Year Award. 

The winner of the World Exposure NJCAA Freshman of the Year Award will be announced Tuesday, March 21st during the NJCAA National Tournament.

Freddie Wallace, Butler CC
 

Freddie Wallace, the Butler Grizzlies freshman forward from Lincoln, Nebraska, and Lincoln Southwest high school, has been a true force for the Grizzlies this season. Freddie is the Grizzlies leading scorer and rebounder on the season averaging 17.9 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game. Her 17.9 points per game is good for 4th best in the Jayhawk Conference and 24th best in all of NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball. She has been nominated forJayhawk Conference Player of the Week seven times this season and has won the award three times. She was also named NJCAA National Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on
February 8th.


She has had several exceptional scoring performances this season. She has scored double-digit points in 27 of the Grizzlies 29 games this year, she has scored 20+ points ten different times this year, she has scored 25+ points in six games this year, and she has recorded a pair of 30-point games this season. Wallace has also been a force on the glass this year as she has recorded six double-doubles this season. Freddie’s best performance of her freshman season came back on February 1st against rival Coffeyville where she scored a season high 31 points on 10/17 shooting and she went 11/15 at the free throw line in the Grizzlies 68-56 victory.

Saneea Bevley, McLennan

 

Saneea Bevley is a 5-8 freshman from Kansas City Missouri. She has appeared in all 29 of the Highlassies games thus far, making 27 starts. Bevley current leads the team in points per game (14.3) and 3-point percentage (37.8). She is 94-249 from 3-point range,
seventh in the nation, and hit a season-high eight from behind the arc in the 79-74 win at Blinn. Bevley has been named the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week twice this season.

Bevley attended Blue Springs High School where she averaged 15.5 points playing for coach Kory Lower. At Blue Springs, she was a member of the 1000-Point Club and set the school record for 3-pointers while earning all-district, all-conference and all-state
honors.

WAiata Jennings, Collin College
 

5'9 Guard, Waiata Jennings is a leader on and off the floor.  She is a hard worker who has led Collin College to a school record of 28-1 and final NJCAA team Ranking of 7th in the Country.  The Cougars just won their 6th Conference Championship in the last 9 years.  Waiata is averaging 16.5ppg while shooting 48%fg.  She is also averaging 6rpg, 2.4ast, and 3.1 steals.
