Four finalists for 2023 NJCAA Division 1 World Exposure's Women's Assistant Coach of the Year announced

The 2023 NJCAA Division 1  World Exposure Report's  Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach of the Year Award finalists were announced today by World Exposure Report and include Kamyrn Lemon (South Plains), Lindsay Walters (Eastern Florida State), Abby Fawcett (Butler) and Jashae Lee (Trinity Valley).

About the finalists:


Jashae Lee, Trinity Valley

Lee is in her first season on the coaching staff at Trinity Valley Community College as assistant women’s basketball coach.  

Lee joins the Lady Cardinals after two years with New Mexico Junior College, where she served as assistant coach.

The Lady Cardinals are 28-2 heading into the Region XIV Tournament. They went 15-1 in conference play. They shared the league title with Blinn, representing the 30th time in 32 years to have either won/shared a conference championship.

They were ranked in the NJCAA Top 25 all season, ranking as high as first and no lower than sixth.

 

Abby Fawcett, Butler
Butler Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach Abby Fawcett has been an integral part of the Grizzlies success both this season and in past seasons. Fawcett, the top assistant to head coach Mike Helmer, has helped turn the Grizzlies into a true force in the Jayhawk Conference and has helped raise the program to one of national prominence. Since adding Fawcett to the coaching staff in 2011, the Grizzlies have not posted a losing record in the 11 seasons since her hiring. Over those 11 seasons, Fawcett has helped guide the Grizzlies to four national tournament appearances, including four Jayhawk Conference Regular Season Titles, and two Region VI Championships. Fawcett has also been integral in recruiting for the Grizzlies, helping pull three NJCAA All-Americans to Butler in her time with the Grizzlies. This season, Fawcett has been a big part of the Grizzlies success, helping guide the Grizzlies to a 23-6 record so far this season and an 18-6 record in a stiff Jayhawk Conference.

 

Kamyrn Lemon, South Plains
Lemon is in her first year at South Plains. She has helped Head Coach Ara Baten and Assistant Coach Denise Rosario with player development this season.  South Plains is currently 12-2 in conference play.  

Lindsay Walters, Eastern Florida State

Lyndsay Walters is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball program and has been a key part of the team’s success this season, both on and off the court. The Titans currently have a  29-1 record.

The 2023 NJCAA Division 1 World Exposure's  Women’s College Assistant Coach of the Year will be announced on March 21st.
