Four Finalists named for 2023 World Exposure Report NJCAA Div. 1 Sophomore of the Year

The World Exposure Report  Awards Committee announced the finalists for the prestigious World Exposure NJCAA Division 1 Sophomore of the Year Award. 

The winner of the World Exposure NJCAA Sophomore of the Year Award will be announced Tuesday, March 21st during the NJCAA National Tournament.

Shaulana Wagner- Wabash Valley

Wagner has been one of the most dominant players this season in Junior College basketball.  She is top 10 in the country in scoring, 2nd in the country in assist, leads the country in steals.  She has had 4 triple doubles.  

She has stepped up in the biggest games in the season including breaking a school record of 47 points in a home win vs. Three Rivers while also having 10 rebounds and 6 assist.  In Wabash Valley game vs. Moberly, she has 33 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists.

Tiffany Tullis, Blinn 

Blinn College sophomore forward Tiffany Tullis has played an integral role in helping the Buccaneer women's basketball team earn a share of the Region XIV regular-season title for a second consecutive season. The Buccaneers have 28 regular-season wins and 15 region victories, which are both the highest in program history.

In 30 games played (all starts), Tullis is averaging a team-high 14.5 points and 12.9 rebounds per game on a sophomore-heavy roster. She scored a season-high 29 points in the team's season-opening victory over McLennan on Nov. 2, and has since scored 10 points or more in each of Blinn's games except for a nine-point outing on Jan. 7. She averages 50.8% from the floor, 32.3% from 3-point range, and 70.9% from the free throw line. She also has nearly 3 assists per game with 2.6.

Tullis also has 25 double-doubles this season, and has totaled a double-digit rebounding performance in all but five games. Her season high in rebounds is 23, which came on Nov. 10 in a win over Temple College. 


 

Sakyia White, Jones College

White is a Florida State signee, was a World Exposure Report 1st Team All-American last season after averaging 16.8 points and 11.0 rebounds per game to go along with 18 double-doubles in her first season at the Junior College level. 

The nation's consensus No. 1 Junior college player is a phenomenal scorer in the paint, elite rebounder,  and true competitor. This season she is averaging 19 ppg (no. 18th in the nation) and 13.4  rpg (no. 6th in the nation). 

Sakima Walker, Northwest Florida State

Walker currently holds offers from Alabama, Arizona, Maryland, Ohio State, and Louisville. She was named Panhandle Player of the Year after registering 11 double-doubles (7 vs. Region 8 opponents) The transfer from Rutgers is averaging 19.4 ppg and 8.2 rpg in conference play.
