USA Bring Home Inaugural Gold Medal In 3x3 Basketball

The United States 3x3 team won gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Wednesday.

Team USA beat the Russian Olympic Committee, 18-15, in the gold medal game. A 2014 graduate of UConn, Dolson led the United States with seven points and nine rebounds. She shot 4-for-6 on free throws.

The U.S. beat France, 18-16, in the semifinals to advance to the gold medal game. Dolson notched five points and a team-high eight rebounds in the semis. She recorded 51 total points in nine games at the Olympics.

Dolson is the 10th player in UConn women’s basketball history to win gold at the Olympics, joining Rebecca Lobo (1996), Kara Wolters (2000), Sue Bird (2004, ’08, ’12, ’16), Swin Cash (2004, ’12), Diana Taurasi (2004, ’08, ’12, ’16), Tina Charles (2012, ’16), Asjha Jones (2012), Maya Moore (2012, ’16) and Breanna Stewart (2016).
