Jackson Goes For 27 as #13 FSW Tops the Century Mark Against Pasco

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla.- CJ Jackson scored a career high 27 points and the #13 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers shot 59% from the floor as they raced past the Pasco-Hernando State Bobcats 100-45 Wednesday night in non-conference play.

The Bucs got off to a red hot start Wednesday and never looked back as Terry Roberts and CJ Lane hit back to back three pointers early on to help FSW score the first 10 points of the contest.  After Pasco got their first bucket of the game 3:15 in, the Bucs continued to push, putting up six straight to take a 16-3 lead just five minutes into the game.  The rout was on from there as a runner from Rhyjon Blackwell put the Bucs in front 33-7 and they pushed their lead to 30 on a strong finish from CJ Jackson in the lane to make it 44-14 with 3:34 to go in the half. The Bobcats cut into the Bucs lead before the half, but at the break it was still all FSW as the Bucs led it 50-25 after 20 minutes of action.

Pasco got the first points of the second half, but FSW answered by scoring 16 of the next 18 to blow their lead open to 66-29.  A wing three from Kaiyem Cleary made it a 40 point game at 73-33 with 11:22 to go and another Cleary triple five minutes later had the Bucs up by 50. An old fashioned three point play from Jackson and a thunderous dunk by Kario Oquendo put the Bucs in front 96-40 and a pair of free throws from Jackson in the final minute gave the Bucs the century mark as they closed out a 100-45 win.

The Bucs were just about as consistent as they could have been in the victory, scoring exactly 50 points in each half while shooting 59% in the first half and 58% in the second half, good for 58.5% on the night. Jackson exploded for a career high 27 on 10 of 15 shooting for FSW while Blackwell chipped in 14 and three other Bucs scored in double figures.  FSW forced 25 Pasco turnovers, turning them into 41 points while dominating the Bobcats in the paint 50-24.

FSW picks up their 15th win of the season in the victory, improving to 15-2 overall on the year. Pasco-Hernando falls to 6-10 with the loss.

After a two game hiatus from Southern Conference play, the Bucs return to conference action on Saturday to begin the third round of league play when they travel to Lake Worth to take on Palm Beach where they will look to complete the three game season sweep of the Panthers.
