2021 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship 

 

Thursday, March 11          
No. 8 TCU vs. No. 9 Kansas, 75-72
The No. 9 seed Horned Frogs will play in the quarterfinals for the third time since joining the conference in2013. They will face No. 1 Baylor for just the second time at the Championship. TCU first played the Lady Bears in 2018 in the semifinals, losing 94-48.

TCU Lauren Heard had 26 points now has the second most free throws attempted in the Big 12 Women's Championship with 18 and tied for the most free throws made with 13. 

Jayhawks freshman, who is currently a World Exposure International Player of the Year Semifinalists had 10 defensive rebounds, which ties for fifth most in the Big 12 Championship. 

No. 7 Texas Tech vs. No. 10 Kansas State, 75-65
Kansas State won their 10th first-round game to advance to the second round to play No. 2 West Virgina.

Wildcats set a record for highest free throw percentage (10-10, 100%, in a first round game. In addition, K-State had 23 assists, tying for fourth all-time in the first round of the Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship. 

Texas Tech was led by Lexi Gordon who finished with 19 points. 

Friday, March 12   
No. 4 Iowa State vs. No. 5 Texas, 82-84
Texas' win puts them second in the Big 12 record books for highest-scoring overtime win to be decided by 5 points or less in a Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship game. 

UT had five players in double-digit scoring in Kyra Lambert (23), Taylor (20), Collier (17), and Chevalier (11). 

Iowa State Ashley Joens who ranks ninth in the nation for points per game and first in the Big 12 ended the game with 28 points. 

 

No. 1 Baylor vs. No. 8 TCU, 92-55
Bears Nalyssa Smith reached double figures in scoring for the 23rd-straight game with 26 points. 

Baylor's 33 points in the 4th quarter set a Big 12 record for the most points in a single quarter in Big 12 Championship history. 

Diggs had 22 points for the Horned Frogs. 

No. 2 West Virginia vs. No. 10 Kansas State, 58-56
West Virginia will make its fifth appearance in the Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship semifinal. 

Kysre Gondrezick led the Mountaineers in scoring with 26 points. 

Christianna Carr and Rachel Ranke each scored 12 points for the Kansas State Wildcats. 

No. 3 Oklahoma State vs. No. 6 Oklahoma, 89-80Oklahoma State was led by Natasha Mack who posted her 17th double-double of the season with 20 points and 16 rebounds in her first-ever Big 12 Tournament game. Her 16 rebounds ties for fourth-most with two other players in a second-round game.

Sooners' Williams finished with 19 points. 

Saturday, March 13          
No. 5 Texas vs. No. 1 Baylor, 55-66 
The No. 1 seed Baylor advances to the Championship game for the 14th time and 10th straight. 

Baylor was led by NaLyssa Smith 21 points. She has scored in double-figures for the 24th straight game. 

Longhorns Collier was held to three points, her second-lowest performance this season. She was held to just two points against Baylor earlier this year. 

No. 2 West Virginia vs. No. 3 Oklahoma State, 59-50West Virginia advances to the Big 12 Championship final for the first time since 2017 and the third time since joining the league in 2012-13. WVU is 1-1 all-time in the Big 12 tournament finale.

West Virginia was led by sophomore forward Esmery Martinez who led the team in scoring, with 19 points, and rebounding, with 15 boards, to tally her 14th double-double of the season. Martinez’s 14 double-doubles this year are the most since Teana Muldrow also tallied 14 in 2017-18. Of note, the native of the Dominican Republic, surpassed 500 career points and rebounds in the win.

Redshirt senior guard Kysre Gondrezick (17) and sophomore guard Kirsten Deans (11) also finished in double figures in the victory.

Sunday, March 14  
No. 2 West Virginia vs. No. 1 Baylor, 76-50
The No. 17/23-ranked West Virginia University women’s basketball team (21-6, 13-5 Big 12) fell to No. 6/6 Baylor, 76-50, on Sunday afternoon, in the 2021 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship title game at Municipal Auditorium, in Kansas City.

Sophomore guard Kirsten Deans led the team in scoring in the championship contest, with 15, while redshirt senior guard Kysre Gondrezick added 13 points of her own. Sophomore forward Esmery Martinez paced the Mountaineers on the glass, with 11 rebounds.
