Big Ten Conference Tournament

Tuesday, March 9, 2021 - First Round

Game 1: #12 Illinois vs #13 Wisconsin, 67-42

Badgers' Junior forward Imani Lewis collected her 12th double-double this season (11 points, 11 rebounds), moving her into a tie for the top spot in the conference with Big Ten Player of the Year Naz Hillmon of Michigan and Ohio State’s Dorka Juhász. However,
Wisconsin shot a season-low .250 from the field and was .077 three-point percentage (1-of-13) was their second-lowest this season.

Illinois freshman forward Aaliyah Nye scored a career-high 17 points, eclipsing her previous best of 15 points.

Wednesday, March 10, 2021 - Second Round
Game 2: #8 Nebraska vs. #9 Minnesota,72-61
Nebraska was led by Sam Haiby's 19 points and team-high eight rebounds, while Kate Cain had 16 and Isabelle Bourne finished with 14 points.

Four players reached double figures for Minnesota with senior Gadiva Hubbard and freshman Katie Borowicz leading the way with 12 points and four assists each. Borowicz, who was making her first career start, added a career-high three steals and three rebounds while playing a personal best 36:47.

Sophomore Klarke Sconiers chipped in with 11 points, a career-high tying three assists and two blocks off the bench, while senior Laura Bagwell Katalinich was a rebound short of her first double-double of the season with 10 points and a season-high nine rebounds.


Game 3: #5 Northwestern vs. #12 Illinois, 67-42
Northwestern earns its 13th consecutive win over Illinois and 17th in their last 20 series games, improving to 48-34 all-time against the Fighting Illini.

Senior guard Lindsey Pulliam scored a game-high 21 points and moved into third place on the school’s all-time scoring
list with 1,977 points (passing Amy Jaeschke, who scored 1,976 points from 2007-11).

Pulliam is also poised to become the 34th Big Ten women’s basketball player to score 2,000 points and she finished one rebound shy of her career high and her second double-double this season. She had 10 rebounds (and 15 points) in a Feb. 1 win over visiting Ohio State.


Game 4: #7 Michigan State vs. #10 Penn State, 75-66
Michigan State's sophomore guard Alyza Winston registered her third career 20-point game, all this season, and her first since back-to-back 20-point outings on Dec. 9 at Minnesota (20 points) and Dec. 12 at home vs. Iowa (career-high 25 points).

Winston made five three-pointers, one away from her career set in the Dec. 12 game against Iowa. Her total on Wednesday against Penn State also tied for the second-most triples by a Michigan State player in a Big Ten Tournament
game.

Penn State's Freshman guard (and Big Ten Sixth Player of the Year) Maddie Burke made six three-pointers, tying for ninth-most in a Big Ten Tournament game.

Game 5: #6 Iowa vs. #11 Purdue, 83-72
Hawkeyes Czinano tallied her second career 30-plus point game, tallying a career-high to finish the game and was one rebound from a double-double.

Clark scored in double digits with 27 points and was one assist from producing a double-double.


Thursday, March 11, 2021 - Quarterfinals
Game 6: #1 Maryland vs. #8 Nebraska, 83-73The Terrapins are 17-2 (.895) all-time at the Big Ten Tournament, including a 7-0 record in the quarterfinals.

Huskers' Junior guard Sam Haiby scored a game-high 24 points, her ninth 20-point game this season. She also eclipsed the 1,000 point mark for her career (now at 1,017)

Game 7: #4 Michigan vs. #5 Northwestern 49-65
Junior guard and two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Veronica Burton collected her third double-double and
seventh 20-point game of the season with a team-high 25 points and game-best 13 rebounds.

Senior guard Lindsey Pulliam moved to the precipice of the 2,000-point milestone for her career, currently at 1,995
following Thursday’s 18-point effort. Pulliam would be the 34th Big Ten player to score 2,000 career points.

Michigan's Junior forward and Big Ten Player of the Year Naz Hillmon recorded her 16th 20-point game and conference-leading
13th double-double this season with a game-high 26 points and 12 rebounds on Thursday.

Game 8: #2 Indiana vs. #7 Michigan State, 61-69
Hoosier Berger led the Hoosiers with 19 points. Berger scored 12 points in the first half to help Indiana to a 34-26 lead at the break. Holmes scored 17 points on 8-for-12 from the field. Holmes added 10 rebounds for her eighth career double-double and Patberg scored 12 points and added a team-high six assists.

Michigan State's Head coach Suzy Merchant moves into sole possession of sixth place on the Big Ten Tournament career coaching wins.

Spartans Clouden posted her third 30-point game this season, and all three have come against Top 25 opponents. 

Game 9:  #3 Rutgers vs. #6 Iowa, 62-73
Hawkeyes Junior Monika Czinano posted 20 points, breaking into the 1,000-point club. Czinano is the 38th Hawkeye to score 1,000 points in their career and Freshman Caitlin Clark recorded her eighth double-double on the season, scoring 21 points and dishing out 10 assists.

Rutgers' loss snaps a season-high nine-game winning streak for the Scarlet Knights. Graduate student guard Arella Guirantes tallied her 11th 20-point game of the year with exactly 20 points on Thursday and now has 1,666 career points, good for 10th in school history.

Friday, March 12, 2021 - Semifinals
Game 10: #5 Northwestern vs. #1 Maryland, 52-85
Maryland has now advanced to the Big Ten Tournament championship game in all seven years it has been a Big Ten member (2015-21), having won the title in four of its six prior appearances.

Terps Freshman forward Angel Reese registered her first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds on Friday and Senior forward Alaysia Styles scored a game-high 15 points on Friday, her highest point total since arriving at Maryland as a midseason graduate transfer from California.

Northwestern's Junior guard (and two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year) Veronica Burton became the latest Wildcat
to score 1,000 career points with her 14 points on Friday. Burton now has 1,004 points in her three seasons at Northwestern.

Game 11: #6 Iowa vs. #7 Michigan State, 87-72

Iowa moves on to its sixth Big Ten Tournament championship game and second in three seasons. The Hawkeyes won their third Big Ten Tournament title in 2019.

Big Ten Freshman of the Year Caitlin Clark registered her 21st 20-point game in 24 outings this season and her 11 assists tied for the fourth-most in a Big Ten Tournament game

Clark has 30 assists through three games of this year’s Big Ten Tournament, and nearly became the first player in tournament history with three consecutive double-digit assists games and is just the fourth player to record 30 assists.

Sophomore forward McKenna Warnock collected her fourth double-double of the season and sixth of her career with 17 points and 11 rebounds. 


Saturday, March 13, 2021 - Championship Game
Game 12: #1 Maryland vs. #6 Iowa, 104-84
Iowa's Junior Monika Czinano broke two Big Ten single-tournament records. She tallied 107 points in four games and 48 made field goals, Northwestern’s Nia Coffey held the previous records set in 2016.

Freshman Caitlin Clark also broke a Big Ten single-tournament record, tallying 37 assists in four games.

Chloe Bibby led the Terps with 21 points, including 11 with three 3-pointers in the opening quarter. 

Miller was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player. Owusu was named to the All-Tournament Team.
