No. 13 Maryland Terrapins vs. No. 19 Indiana Hoosiers in Big 10 showdown - Prediction & Preview - January 4, 2021

A top 25 matchup is set for Monday night as No. 19 Indiana travels to No. 13 Maryland. Tip is slated for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Indiana Preview
The Indiana Hoosiers are off to a 5-2 start to begin the season and in their first three conference games they are 3-0 for the third-straight season.

A staple of a Teri Moren team is defense and the Hoosiers are living up to that expectation this season. They are currently leading the Big Ten and 14th in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 52.9 points per game through seven games.

The Hoosiers are led by three double figure scorers as sophomore forward Mackenzie Holmes leads the way with 16.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game.

Junior guard Grace Berger adds 13.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game for the Hoosiers. Senior guard Ali Patberg also adds 11.4 points per contest.

Key Player Mackenzie Holmes
 Mackenzie Holmes is off to a great start to her sophomore campaign. She is leading the Hoosiers in points per game (16.3) and blocks per game (3.3).

Maryland Preview
Maryland  is coming off a win at Penn State, 96-82, Thursday afternoon. In that game, sophomore guard Ashley Owusu went 15-for-22 for a career-high 34 points with eight boards. Diamond Miller added 17 points and Chloe Bibby scored 15. The Terps now sit at 2-0 in Big Ten play.

The Terrapins are averaging 97.3 points per game through seven games, which is leading the entire NCAA. In addition, they are rated 9th in the country for field goal percentage.  

Sophomore forward Diamond Miller adds 17.9 points per game while senior Chloe Bibby leads on the glass with 8.1 per game.

Key Player Ashley Owusu
Maryland has a star in Ashley Owusu, and the rest of the college basketball world agrees.   The sophomore guard his averaging 18.4 points and 7 rebounds.
