Game Recaps

Auburn 97, Gardner Webb 61

What happened: Unique Thompson led Auburn with 21 points and 12 rebounds, recording the 44th double-double of her career. She scored six of Auburn’s first eight points, helping to settle in a reshuffled Auburn team loaded with newcomers.

Junior College transfer from Wabash Valley, Keya Patton  had her best Auburn performances to date as she tallied 14 points. Patton is the No. 20 rated Juco prospect by World Exposure Report and was a World Exposure Report First Team All-American.

What it means: Auburn is now 3-0. The Tiger's 97 points equaled its highest scoring output of the Terri Williams-Flournoy era, matching a 97-point effort in the season opener against Grambling State in 2018.

ETSU 50, Tennessee 67
What happened: Tennessee (2-0) was led in scoring by Rae Burrell, who finished with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Rennia Davis and Jordan Horston were also in double figures with 15 and 12, respectively.

What it means: Senior Rennia Davis totaled 15 points against ETSU, marking 30 straight games of double-digit scoring. Additionally, she has scored 10+ in 44 of her last 45 contests.

Florida State 81, Florida 75
What happened: Gators sophomore guard
Nina Rickards had a dazzling performance by having a new career best with 18 points, however the Gators couldn't overcome the long and physical Seminoles who won the rebounding battle 52-24.

Streaky shooting and points from FSU turnovers kept the Gators in the game all night long, but the ball wouldn't bounce Florida's way in the pivotal moments.

What it means:  FSU Interim Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff who took over this season for long-time head coach Sue Semrau  who is taking a leave of absence wins in her head coaching debut.
