Pinto, Mutanda Recognized as Two of Nation’s Best

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida State College sophomores Chanaya Pinto and Masengo Mutanda were ranked in World Exposure Report’s annual Juco Top 25 released last week.

Pinto came in at No. 5, while Mutanda was ranked No. 20.

A 6-1 forward from Mozambique, Pinto was an NJCAA All-American in 2019-20. She was named FCSAA/Region VIII All-State and All-Panhandle Conference after averaging 13.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. Her 72 steals were eighth-most in the FCSAA, while her 258 rebounds were seventh-most.

A highly touted guard from Minneapolis, Mutanda scored a game-high 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting in the team’s 2019-20 season-opener against Wabash Valley. She suffered a season-ending injury during practice the following week but returns to the team after a successful rehab.

NWF finished last season 27-4 overall. The team claimed the Panhandle Conference title as well as the FCSAA Region VIII Tournament title.

Past Raiders to appear on the list include Fapou Semebene (No. 4, 2020), Rayven Peeples, No. 23, 2020), Rellah Boothe (No. 3, 2019), Awa Trasi (No. 6, 2019), Shana Meertens (No. 18, 2019), Georgia Gayle (No. 21, 2019), and Trinity Baptiste (No. 7, 2018).
