FORT MYERS, Fla.- After moving eight players on to the NCAA Division I level last season, a Florida SouthWestern State Men’s Basketball program that has gone 59-5 over the past two seasons had lots of restocking to do for 2020-2021. Head Coach Eric Murphy feel like the Bucs have done just that, adding nine newcomers to the fold including a pair of Division I transfers to go with a talented freshman crop. 

- Klein Alexandre | 6’3 | Guard | West Palm Beach, Florida

Alexandre played last season at Miami Triple Threat Prep where he averaged 20 points and 8 rebounds per game.  Prior to that, he played at Oxbridge Academy where he put up 16 points and 6 assists a game as a senior.

Murphy on Alexandre “Klein comes in as an aggressive, tough, and versatile scorer.  He brings much needed toughness and a competitive attitude that we need to continue our success here at FSW.  We are blessed to get him after there was a coaching change at his previous commitment which allowed us to get him.”

- Rhyjon Blackwell | 6’0 | Guard | Long Island, New York

Blackwell averaged 21 points and 5 assists per game a season ago at Combine Academy where he shot 41% from the three point line. Prior to his season at Combine, he averaged 15.5 points and 7.2 assists per game while leading Baldwin High School in Long Island to a Conference Championship.

Murphy on Blackwell “Rhyjon is a quick, athletic point guard that is a big time shooter. He has a great control and feel for the game. His skillset and energy should provide a big impact for us.”

- Trace Darby | 6’4 | Guard | Fort Myers, Florida

Darby stays close to home to play for the Bucs after prepping at First Baptist Academy in Fort Myers where he earned three varsity letters.  Darby helped First Baptist to a District Championship, averaging 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists per game as a senior while shooting 53% from the field.

Murphy on Darby “I have known Trace since he was in 9th grade and have always liked the way he has worked to get better. He has improved so much over the last four years. I am excited to see him compete and continue to improve his game.”

- Jonathan dos Anjos | 6’7 | Forward | Curitiba, Brazil | Loyola Marymount

Dos Anjos comes to FSW from Loyola Marymount University where he played in all 32 games for the Lions a season ago.  He averaged 3.2 points and 2.0 rebounds per game as a rookie and also blocked eight shots which was second best on the team.  He scored a career high 12 in his collegiate debut against Westcliff and hit double figures for the second time in the Lions final game of 2019 against Morgan State when he put up 11 on 4 of 6 shooting. Two seasons ago while playing at Victory Rock Prep, scored 20 points on 7 of 11 shooting against FSW. 

Murphy on dos Anjos “Jon brings athleticism, experience, and toughness to this year's team coming from the Division I level. His versatility, defense, and his ability to score from multiple areas of the court will make him a major player in the state this year.” 

- CJ Jackson | 6’6 | Guard | Atlanta, Georgia | Massachusetts
Jackson transfers to FSW after a season at UMass where he played in 15 games and drew one start on the season.  The breakout game of his freshman campaign came against Maine when he played a career high 24 minutes and scored a career high 10 points in a win over the Black Bears. 

Murphy on Jackson “CJ will bring versatility and experience to our team from his time at the D1 level. He is a long, athletic guard that can play and guard multiple positions. His ability to handle and push the ball himself in transition will create advantages for our offense.” 

- Jovan Kojic | 6’8 | Forward | Subotica, Serbia

Kojic didn’t have to travel far to play for the Bucs this season after prepping just next door at Canterbury School in 2019-2020 where he averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds per game for the Cougars.

Murphy on Kojic “Jovan will be an asset to our team, as I believe he is a very underrated player.  He brings shooting and versatility to both the 4 and 5 positions. He can score with his back to the basket as well, but really helps us stretch the floor with his shooting ability.”

- Kahari Rogers | 6’7 | Guard | Brooklyn, New York

Rogers played last season at Liberty Heights Prep in Charlotte where he averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds per game.  Also a star in the classroom, Rogers was a member of the LHAI Honor Roll last year. 

Murphy on Rogers “Kahari is a long athletic guard/wing that can really stretch the floor with his ability to shoot with range. He really runs the floor which helps him get open shots which in turn will help open up our offense. His strengths also include his defensive toughness and ball handling abilities.” 

- Mobido Sanogo | 6’9 | Forward | Bamako, Mali

Sanogo comes to FSW from Central Pointe Christian Academy where he averaged 14 points and 6 rebounds per game a season ago. 

Murphy on Sanogo “We are very fortunate to land Modibo.  He brings good size to our front line and will compete for minutes early on.  Modibo does a great job of running the floor, playing hard and physical, and in the half court scoring with his back to the basket.  We look forward to him coming in and helping us right away.”

- Cameron Stitt | 6’8 | Forward | Charlotte, North Carolina

Stitt played last season at Beckley Prep in West Virginia where he averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds per game.  Prior to that, averaged 18 points and 9 rebounds per game at Porter Ridge High School in Charlotte. 

Murphy on Stitt “Cam is a long, athletic forward that can stretch the floor with his outside shooting. He can also affect the game with his athleticism in transition. He is coming in with a good skill set for his size, which gives him the ability to play inside or out.” 

The Bucs are scheduled to start their season on Saturday, January 23rd on the road at former Suncoast Conference rival Polk State in a 4:00 PM tip from Winter Haven.
