Oxbridge Academy guard Nashani Gilbert-Taylor has signed with Northwest Florida, Raiders head coach Bart Walker announced.
Gilbert-Taylor averaged 18.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists as a senior. A 5-10 guard, Gilbert-Taylor was named the South Florida Sun Sentinel Player of the Year as a senior. She led the ThunderWolves to consecutive state titles as a sophomore and junior.
“Nashani can score from anywhere on the court,” Walker said. “She’s long and athletic. She can play all three guard positions and has a high basketball IQ. We’re expecting great things from her.”
As a senior, Gilbert-Taylor posted four double-doubles and scored 20 or more points 10 times. In her final prep game, Gilbert-Taylor turned in an unforgettable performance scoring 21 points to go along with 11 boards.
She joins a Raiders squad that finished last season 27-4, claiming the regular-season Panhandle Conference title, won the FCSAA/Region VIII state tile for the first time in 24 years, and earned the No. 3 overall seed in the NJCAA National Championships.
