Georgia men’s basketball player Rodney Howard is transferring from the program after his freshman season, as first reported by Jeff Goodman of Stadium on Twitter.

Howard averaged 7.3 minutes per game and struggled to solidify a consistent role in Georgia’s rotation in his first season.

Howard averaged 1.3 points and 1.5 rebounds per game while averaging 7.3 minutes per game.

His 15 blocked shots ranked third on the team behind the 18 of Toumani Camara and Anthony Edwards.

Howard was a three-star prospect out of Legacy Christian High in Greenville, S.C., after playing at Centennial High in Roswell. The former Ole Miss signee committed to Georgia last May the day after Nicolas Claxton announced he was staying in the NBA draft.

Howard did not see game action in four of Georgia’s last six games.

Howard is the first of nine freshmen to depart from Georgia’s roster this offseason.
