Region 5 Women's Tournament results- South Plains punched their ticket to the National Tournament

(3/8/20) Sophomore guard Caroline Germond netted a season-high 24 points as the South Plains College women's basketball team outlasted Collin County 74-64 Saturday to capture the Region V title and punch their ticket to the NJCAA Women's Basketball National Tournament.

The Lady Texans will make their second consecutive appearance at the National Tournament which is slated for March 17-21 in Lubbock at the Rip Griffin Center on the campus of Lubbock Christian University. South Plains will compete in the 24 team tournament with the official bracket to be decided during the women's basketball selection show at 11:30 a.m. on Monday.

(3/6/20) Sophomore guard Caroline Germond led the way for South Plains with 16 points and four assists over 35 minutes, knocking down 7 of 15 shots from the floor and was 2 of 3 from distance. LSU signee Sarah Shematsi had 14 points and six boards, bucketing 4 of 8 shots from the perimeter in 33 minutes of action against Midland College. 

(3/5/20) Freshman Johanna Teder scored a career-high 26 points, 15 coming from behind the arc as the top-seeded South Plains College women's basketball team routs Weatherford College 103-60 Thursday in their opening-round matchup at the Region V Tournament at Moody Coliseum.

The Lady Texans improve to 30-1 on the season and advance to Friday's semifinal round where they will square off with conference foe Midland College at 5 p.m.
