Gerald Ewing resigns as head coach at powerhouse Trinity Valley

Gerald Ewing, the most genuine, loyal, and ultra-successful head coach at Trinity Valley has resigned.

Ewing, who has been TVCC head coach for the last 6 years, submitted his resignation on Thursday due to personal reasons.

He leaves the Lady Cards program being regarded as one of the greatest coaches if not the greatest to lead the women's basketball program at Trinity Valley CC. 

Ewing had a 168-26 overall record, including reaching the national semifinals all 5 seasons and taking the Lady Cards to three straight NJCAA championship games in 2016-2018. 

He was 16-5 in national tournament games as head coach.

In addition, the veteran coach was the assistant coach for the Lady Cards that won back-to-back national titles and posted a 72-2 record before being named the Head Coach when Lovato resigned. 

Prior to his arrival at TVCC, Ewing served four season as the recruiting coordinator  at Johnson County Community College.  While at JCCC, the Lady Cavaliers posted a record of 113-26 wins, including three straight 30-win seasons. 

Overall, Ewing has mentored numerous of NJCAA All-Ameriacns, WBCA All-Americans, WNBA players, and 4-year transfers. 

According to Jay Kinzer, Ph.D., vice president of student services and athletic director, assistant coach Precious Ivy has been named interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Ivy is in her first year at the college, having served previous stints as an assistant coach at Houston Baptist University and Tyler Junior College.

TVCC Lady Cards are currently ranked No. 3 in the World Exposure Poll and they return to action tomorrow against Kilgore.
