Class of 2020 Guard Eylia"LeLe" Love Commits to Geogia Tech

Eylia "LeLe" Love - a 6-foot-0 guard from Olathe, KS.- is ranked by the World Exposure Report as the No. 61 overall prospect in the Class of 2020. 

Love is a good athlete .  She can has great size and skills in to compete in the ACC.  Her perimeter game has gotten a lot better, and that will continue to get better. 

Let's jump into our interview with the highly ranked guard. 

When did you started playing basketball?
EL:
Second grade, 8 years old

Who got you involved?
EL:
My parents got me involved with basketball at a young age. When I first started playing basketball I instantly fell in love with the sport and couldn’t see myself doing anything else.

Who was your biggest inspiration growing up? 
EL:
My parents are my biggest inspiration because they’re very hardworking and dedicated individuals. They also raised me to believe that I could achieve anything I put my mind to, which is why I work so hard to achieve my goals and make them proud.

Who did you wanted to be like growing up?
EL:
Maya Moore, Candance Parker and Skylar Diggins-Smith

How old were you when you received your first Division 1 offer?
EL:
I was 14 years old when I received an offer from the University of Kansas.

What is it like to play for the Missouri Phenom?  
EL:
Playing with Missouri Phenom is a lot of fun that’s full of team camaraderie. We play and practice at an intense pace and we all support one another as one big family.

What was your experience like playing on the EYBL circuit?
EL:
Playing on the EYBL circuit was very competitive. I enjoyed playing with and against some of the top girls in the country, along with traveling from city to city over the summer.

How have your parents, trainers, and coaches prepare you for the next level?
EL:
My mom and dad (Tierra and Demarcus Love) have always held me to high standards, so that I wouldn’t settle or feel complacent. Coach Greg and Coach Larry with the Missouri Phenom, along with my high school coaches, Coach Bradford and Coach Zo have pushed me and helped develop my skills as a player.

What is it like to play at Olathe North? Playing at Olathe North is a lot of fun.
EL:
We play at a high tempo and our team chemistry is very strong.

Now, that your decision is out of the way; what are your some of your team goals and individual goals for your senior season at Olathe North?
EL:
As a team, our goals are to win the conference and ultimately make it back to the state tournament to win the entire thing. As an individual, my goal is to become a better leader as the only senior on the team and improve my skills in any way that I can.

What are your HIGH School and AAU Accolades?
EL:
I have been named 3rd-team 6a All-State team, 2nd- team All- Conference. Sunflower league player of the week, Hyvee Athlete of the Week.


Who all offered and showed the most interest in you?
EL:
Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, St. John’s, USC, Florida, Northwestern, KU, Wichita State.

Where and when did you take your official visits?
EL:
Vanderbilt Aug 30-Sept. 1; Georgia Tech: Sept. 13- Sept. 15; and St. John’s Oct. 18- Oct. 20

What five schools were your finalist? 
EL:
Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, St. John’s, USC, and Florida.

Why did you pick Georgia Tech over the other schools?
EL:
I felt most at home at Georgia Tech and most comfortable being myself around the coaching staff and players.

What stood out the most about Georgia Tech?
EL:
 The team chemistry and family atmosphere between everyone there.

Tell me about the decision, was it an easy or hard decision? 
EL:
My decision definitely wasn’t easy. I did a lot of praying and talking to my parents and coaches to guide me through the process.

What was the Head Coach from Georgia Tech reaction when you told them that you wanted to be a there?
EL:
Coach Fortner was very excited and eager to welcome me into their “family”.

Who was the lead recruiter for you at Georgia Tech? What did you guys talk about all the time?
EL:
Coach Manning was my lead recruiter. We talked about how much I would fit in with the program and how I’d be a great asset to the team.

What are you plan on getting a degree in?
EL:
 I’m currently undecided as to what I want to major in, however I know I want to do something along the lines of sports (coaching, sports management, sports broadcasting, etc).

What are some of your future goals after college?
EL:
I want to have the opportunity to play in the WNBA or play professionally overseas.
